NAMI Multnomah Veteran/Military Service Member Peer Support Specialist Training

Note: this is the start date of the training. Applications will be accepted until Sunday, March 3rd.

In collaboration with Cultivating a New Life LLC, we are excited to offer "Warriors in Recovery: Forging an Alliance of Peers" Peer Support Specialist Training, specific to Veterans and Military Service Members.

We are accepting applications through Sunday, March 3rd, 2024. 

Training Dates and Times:

Saturday, April 6th, and Sunday, April 7th, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Friday, April 12th, Saturday, April 13th, and Sunday, April 14th, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There will be a one-hour lunch break each day.

Important Details:

*This is an Oregon Health Authority (OHA) approved Peer Support Specialist Training (PSST) for Adults in Mental Health Recovery. After completing this training, graduates will be eligible to apply for their Traditional Health Workers certification. You can read more here.

*This training contains 40 hours of training designed to inform and empower individuals who want to work as peers with Veterans within peer-delivered services. 

*The core elements of this program include wellness coping skills and WRAP training (Wellness Recovery Action Plan), all from a social justice framework with an emphasis on trauma-informed care, cultural humility model and narrative approaches. 

*This training is offered at no cost to Veterans and active/past Military Service Members who live, work, or volunteer in the state of Oregon.

Eligibility Requirements

You identify as a peer (a peer is a self-identified person currently or formerly receiving mental health services). You are a Veteran or active/past Military Service Member. You are at least 18 years of age. You live, work, or volunteer in Oregon. You are not listed on the Medicaid provider exclusion list. You are able to attend the entirety of the training, which will take place online via Zoom.
